I am cataloging old family papers from my McCarty side, mostly from MO, and came across a page from a marriage record book from Macon County, MO. My relative's marriage is at the bottom of the page, and before that is the separate record which says
"Be it remembered that on the 10th day of March, one thousand eight hundred and fifty one, I, John G. Swinnery a minister of the gospel, united in the bonds of matrimony William James of Quincy, Illinois, and Martha A. Richardson of Macon County Mo. Given under my hand this 14th day of March, 1851.
