David Boyse and his wife, Jane Archer Boyse, with three sons John, William, and David, migrated to America in 1764 and established their home in Long Cane Settlement, Abbeville District, South Carolina. While all efforts have failed to find the passenger list of those who came from Newry, County Down, Ireland, on the "Ship John" and landed in New York on July 28, 1764, there is good evidence to support the belief that David Boyse and his wife, Jane Archer Boyse, with their three sons were members of the group who left the Colony and migrated south to Long Cane Settlement.
