Americans Win US Chess Championship

How many have noticed that, for the first time in recent memory, Americans swept the US Chess Championship?

Of the 12 woman players, only one was born in the USA and she won the championship. Ten were born in the Soviet Union and one was born in Mongolia.

Of the 44 male players, just a few were born in the USA. Two of them tied for first.

We must congratulate winners Larry Christiansen, Nick deFirmian and Jennifer Shahade, all of whom were born in the USA.

This proves that we are not inferior after all.
