The Story of Akiko Geisha

I was in Tokyo, Japan in 1992, stranded in Roppongi. The reason I was stranded is that I had missed the last train for the night. Although I had a return train ticket, I had almost no money.

So, I went to McDonald's, which is located near to Roppongi corner. I spent almost my last few yen to get a cup of black coffee. Then, I went upstairs in McDonald's and took a seat at a small round table near the back.

I was very tired. I put my head down on the table and fell asleep.

When I awoke, I do not know how long it was thereafter, it was like a dream. My eyes were bleary, but I could see through the fog that I was no longer alone at the small table. There, sitting across from me, was a beautiful Japanese girl, the most beautiful girl I had ever seen in Japan. And her name was Akiko Geisha.

Do you find this story interesting? If so, please let me know. I am trying to decide if I should write more. This story really happened, by the way, and that was her real name.

Although I can relate to being stranded in Roppongi waiting for the first train to go back home, this story has nothing to do with chess. So, no, I'm not interested in hearing about it in this forum.

... has nothing to do with any of the rec.games.* groups you are crossposting to.

Use an appropriate forum for it, whatever you decide.

No Sam, just because we play a board game popular in Asia does not mean we are interested in your Asian sexual fantasies.

I suppose if we respond positively, you will follow up with some huge lies about what happened next, mostly involving your warped sexual fantasies.

Here's a better idea. Go back to Roppongi and stay there.

Since a majority seem to be against me writing this story, I guess I will not.

I really had not decided whether to write it or not because it would take me hours to write it and get it right.

I will tell you however that the end of the story was not that wound up in bed with her. Not that I could not have, but rather that I could not find a place to take her, a common problem in Japan. She was willing but we could not find a place.

We spent the whole night going here and there trying to find a place.

When she found out that I had no money at all, she bought me a bowl of soba.

After the trains started running the following morning, we caught the train but I never saw her again. I got her phone number and called her a few times, but was never able to see her again because I returned to America about two weeks later.

I think her telephone number is probably still buried in my papers somewhere.

I have always regreted that I did not call my friend Mario that night. He later told me that even if I had called him at 3:00 AM he would have given us a place to sleep in his apartment, for the sake of promoting intercultural relations.

Sam, sorry to disillusion you! It's NOT Japanese! It's yiddish and means "Go shit in the ocean" (i.e. Go to Hell!)

Is that a real name? Somehow it sounds fabricated. Giving you the benefit of the doubt, perhaps she used it as a temporary name to protect her identity. Or, perhaps, you changed the name yourself.

Then again, I could be wrong.

That is the name she gave me. I am sure of this. I have not remembered it wrong.

However, you are not the first to question this name. Some have said that this name is not possible, but others have said that it is possible.

Was she working as a Geisha? I do not know. She was not wearing a kimono. She said that she was working in a Kiorke Box (not Bar but Box). She had gotten out of work late and missed the last train.

That should be "karaoke", Sam.

Thank you for correcting my spelling.

Glad to hear from you, Bill.

I am interested in hearing your opinion of this, since you were around when this happened and I think I told you this story within one or two days after it occurred. I think I told you about this during the Fujitsu Cup tournament.
