Andrew Chidester [Parents] was born on 18 Oct 1720 in Hartford Co, CT. He died on 15 Feb 1791 in Morristown, Morris Co, NJ. He married Susannah about 1742. Andrew was baptized on 18 Oct 1720 in Simsbury, Hartford Co, CT.

1720, October 18, he was the first born of Samuel Chidester and Mahable
Tuller. (Simsbury Town Records pg 155, Published by Albert C. Bates,
Librarian CT Hist. Soc. Hartford 1898).

Chidester, Andrew, (probably Chichester), had a son Samuel, born in
Connecticut, Oct. 18, 1720. - (Connecticut Puritan Settlers, pg 571).

1735 to 1746 he was a weaver for a store in East Jersey. The area is nowknown as Boundbrook, Somerset Co, NJ. He appears in the account books ofJacob
Janeway, to wit; 1747, October 9, Adam Rhemer's wife paid a debt toSusannah Chidester.

1749/50 Andrew bought articles from Joseph Munday. (NJ Archives V 30)

1771, Andrew was imprisoned for debt. A New Jersey reported; "Pursuant toan
order of of the inferior court of common pleas held at Morristown in andfor
the county of Morris, Notice is hereby given to the respective creditorsof
William MOCKERIDGE, William THROCKMORTON and Andrew CHIDESTER, insolventdebtors now confined for debt in the Gaol of the county of Morris; thatthe said creditors appear before Jacob Ford and Samuel Tuthill, Esquires,two of
the Judges of the said court on Wednesday the third day of February (1772)
next at two o'clock in the afternoon at the courthouse in Morristown
aforesaid, to show cause, if any they have why the said prisoners, should
not be discharged from their imprisonment agreeable to the directions of a
late act of the General Council and General Assembly of the providence of
New Jersey, entitled, An Act for the relief of Insolvent Debtors." (NJ
Archives, 1st series, V28 p 371).

1791, February 15, his death date was cited in the War pension claim, (#W
1472), of his son Phineas.

Susannah was born in 1721. She married Andrew Chidester about 1742.

Elijah Chidester [Parents] was born on 12 Jun 1739 in Simsbury, CT. He died about 1796 in Pequannock Twp., Morris Co, NJ. He married Mary Hoppelar before 1768.

His date of birth was found on a Simsbury, CT film roll obtained by Franze
Atherton from the LDS library. We have a copy of the record. Franze
neglected to get the film roll number.

An Indenture to the will of Joseph Hopler places his family in Albany Co,NY
on 11 June 1790.

Baptisms at the Schaghticoke Dutch Reformed Church, 1752-1866;

Chitester, Elijah and Mary Hoppelar; Mehitable, 29 April 1781. In theactual
record of the church, the name is recorded and spelled Chitester. See copy
in file.

The following information has been compiled from various sources; Letters
from family members, state and county records and military records. Any
additions, corrections or deletions will certainly be welcome.

As there is a nine year gap between Rhoda (1805) and Abraham (1814), it is
probably safe to assume there were some other children in this family. One
child has been reported to have married a Smith.

Mary Hoppelar was born about 1744. She died on 16 Mar 1827 in Milford, Otsego Co., NY... She was buried in Mar 1827 in Methodist Church, Milford, NY. She married Elijah Chidester before 1768.

Her date of birth was computed from her known death date when she wasstated
to be 83 years old.

The date of her death was found in a record in Cooperstown, Otsego Co, NY.

She was buried in the Milford Cemetery in the back of the Milford United
Methodist Church in Milford, Otsego Co, NY.

Pictures of the church, her grave and inscribed headstone are available.

The Dutch spelling of Hopler is Hoppelar. Both spellings will appear in
various records.

She was a twin of Nathaniel. (CHB)

of Fort Hoosick, Mass., at Hoosick".)

William Chidester [Parents] was born on 11 Aug 1729 in Walingford, New Haven Co. CT. He died on 16 Jun 1766 in Fort Hoosic, Berkshire Co, MA. He married Esther Carter.
