For the past two months, Andrea "the Wise" has been organizing a protest and filibuster to take place in Union Square Park in New York City.
The filibuster was scheduled for this past weekend but unfortunately it seems to have been a flop. Andrea is now apologizing.
I have a new idea and this one will work.
One of my compulsive bugs is Family History reseaech and lately I have been researching the Family of Lady Godiva.
Everyone has heard the story. In about the year 1043, Lady Godiva rode naked on horseback in the streets of Coventry, England. This incident created such a stir that people are still talking about this now nearly one thousand years later.
The question is: Why did she ride naked? The answer I found was that she was riding naked as a protest against taxes, including the tax on horses. These taxes had been imposed by her own husband, the Earl of Mercia.
This turned out to be a very effective protest. It is still remembered now nearly one thousand years later. We should follow this example.
Therefore, I propose that Andrea ride naked through the streets of New York City on horseback as a protest against Mayor Bloomberg and his proposed new taxes. This will work. We will get worldwide publicity from this and Mayor Bloomberg will have no choice but to back down on his proposed tax increases.
We can rent a horse from the New York City Horse Barn at 44th Street and 10th Avenue. Since the boycott was a failure, we need to try a girlcott. This should work better.
Andrea is quite beautiful, when she wants to be.
Not only did Lady Godiva bring about a repeal of the onerous taxes, but she became the mother and ancestor of almost every famous person in Europe. Queen Elizabeth II is often embarassed when it is mentioned that she is a direct descendant of Lady Godiva. It is not only her, but the Czar of Russia, the King of France, the King of Spain and the King of Bulgaria are all direct descendants of Lady Godiva.
Even so-called President George W. BUSH is the 33rd great grandson of Lady GODIVA.
